Forum for Democratic Change presidential flagbearer Nathan Nandala Mafabi is set to visit Mityana District on December 22, 2025, as part of an ongoing nationwide mobilisation campaign aimed at rebuilding and energising party support ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Mafabi, who has in recent weeks intensified his countrywide engagements, is expected to headline a major rally in Banda Sub-county in Busujju Constituency, where party officials say large crowds are expected to turn up to hear his message.

According to Moses Mugisha, the Forum for Democratic Change flag bearer for Busujju County, Mafabi began his day in Kyankwanzi District before proceeding to Kiboga District, from where he was scheduled to cross into Mityana later in the day.

Mugisha said the visit marks a renewed effort by the party to strengthen its presence in the Buganda region following years of internal challenges and reduced political visibility.

He said the mobilisation drive is intended to reconnect the party with its traditional support base and reassure supporters of its commitment to political change.

He added that strong attendance is expected at the Mityana rally, noting that many residents are keen to hear directly from Mafabi about the party’s plans.

Party leaders say Mafabi’s address will focus on governance, economic reforms and restoring public trust in political institutions, which the party considers central to its 2026 campaign message.

Residents in Banda and neighbouring areas have also expressed anticipation ahead of the visit, saying it signals renewed political activity by the opposition in the area.

Some residents said it has been a long time since the party last held a major mobilisation event in the constituency, and many are eager to assess what the party is offering ahead of the next elections.

Mafabi’s tour comes as opposition parties step up early preparations in what is expected to be a highly competitive election cycle.

His team says the Mityana rally is one of several planned stops across Buganda, where the Forum for Democratic Change hopes to reclaim lost ground and strengthen grassroots structures.

During the rally, Mafabi is expected to address issues including youth unemployment, corruption, gaps in service delivery and the party’s strategic direction as it prepares for the 2026 polls.
